Most people let life happen to them.
Some people make their life happen.
I want to be like them when I grow up.
I talk on and run workshops around “Find your Purpose.” One book that particularly influenced me was Chris Brady’s PAiLS. Twenty years from now what will you wish you had done today?
Brady’s three circle overlap really helped me define and cement that my purpose is to educate around keeping plastics out of the ocean. I do this though teaching recycled craft (weaving) at workshops and educating about plastics in the ocean.
Forever a student, I am doing a speaking course with Soness Stevens; Stand and Deliver: The premier online course for giving TED worthy presentations. Soness is a TedX coach, an author, has her own TV show in Japan and is the English Speaking voice of Hello Kitty.
In a google hangout with women from all around the globe, Soness took us through a “Doodle your Destiny” exercise. I’m not going to give away the instructions of the exercise (do the course yourself to get them) but I will tell you that is was powerful, empowering, insightful, spiritual and motivating.
I doodled my destiny and it hit the nail on the head: my ultimate goal as a speaker is to share my message about upcycling people to a group of 25,000 people at a single event.
Here’s my destiny doodle (oh that word doesn’t sit well with the child sexual assault therapist part of myself):
How do you know what your destiny is? I am really curious about your “why” and your “knowing”. Let’s talk about it. Either comment here or jump on over to the The Junk Wave on facebook and message me.
Whatever else is on your agenda today, make sure you get to talk some garbage……because that sort of dirty talk keeps our environment clean. Megan Bayliss xxxxxxxx
